Disclaimer: The following scenario is FICTION.
Euthanasia is a hotly debated topic around the world, some people believe that everyone should be given a chance to live, no matter how slender it is. It doesn't matter that hope is nothing more than a flimsy strand of thread. Others, on the other hand, have the mindset that if someone is weak to the extend that he or she no longer has control over his or her own life, they should simply be put out of their misery.
That being said, imagine this scenario:
Jimmy and Timmy are friends. Their friendship dates back some 2 decades. Thanks to their common believe that euthanasia is the right option, they became the best of friends. A few years ago, they began their own movement to promote euthanasia. This particular movement drew flak from critics who were against it. However, the two remained defiant.
Recently though, Jimmy pulled out from the movement, leaving Timmy along. He cited "people change" as his reason when questioned, stating that he now realised that euthanasia wasn't so much of "relieving the ailing from their pain" but rather "pure cruelty". People believe that Jimmy's move was actually because he simply wanted to be with the majority. This effectively meant that Timmy was quite isolated in his belief and hence, attracted the undivided ire of his critics.
From these 2 paragraphs, would you fault Jimmy?
I'm curious :)
